“STREET ART” Kelly Fischer Exhibition in Mijas Town Hall, Málaga, Spain

May 6, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - May 31, 2019 @ 2:00 pm

Swiss-American artist Kelly Fischer presents her work for the first time in Spain, curated by VESANIART, in collaboration with the Town Hall of Mijas, the Embassy of Switzerland in Spain and the HG Contemporary Art Center in New York.

The exhibition will be displayed in the exhibition hall of Mijas’ Town Hall from May 6 to 31.

Kelly Fischer presents the “Street Art” series: an urban art project in which by using the  ‘St. Bernard Pass’ as a background and through multiple layers, the artist takes us to other urban settings that are equally commonplace for her -confusing them, mixing them and reconstructing them-.

Through abstraction, the artist instinctively transforms the raw emotions that everyday urban environments provoke, converting them into shapes, colors and intense movements. In them, the audience will be able to see different people and characters.

The Street Art series, recently exhibited in New York, reflects not only the energy and exuberance of the city as a muse but that of its creator, embodied in large-scale works.

“My work begins to emerge as color and texture are added layer by layer. Landscapes push the viewer to a world of color, light and emotion. Much of the result is driven by unconscious creative drives”.

“I seek to capture the raw beauty of two places that I love deeply and inspire me: the stunning landscapes of Switzerland and the concrete and art jungle of New York. The marked difference and at the same time coincidences of both landscapes inspire me, which makes me want to share with the audience the common points of both that make them so energizing and that fill my work with strength”.

During 2018 and 2019 Kelly Fischer has been present at International Contemporary Art Fairs such as SCOPE New York, Art Basel Miami, Contemporary Arts Project USA, London International Art Events or the Venice Biennale.

VESANIART art gallery especially encourages the link in contemporary art between Switzerland and Spain. It has recently curated the exhibition of Swiss artist Daniel Garbade “Goya on the beach” in Malaga in collaboration with the Swiss Embassy in Spain, and the “Sube al Sur” exhibition of ten Spanish artists in Bern in collaboration with the Spanish Embassy in Switzerland.

The “Street Art” exhibition by Kelly Fischer can be seen from May 6 to 31 in the exhibition hall of the Mijas’ Town Hall (Plaza Virgen de la Peña, 2, 29650, Mijas, Málaga, Monday through Friday from 9:00 to 2:00 p.m.

The opening will be on Monday, May 6 at 7:00 p.m. and will feature the presence of the artist.
